He is also responsible for working with management, developers and partners to improve the site's content, create new services for readers, and devise strategies that set the Industry Standard apart from other technology publishers.</p> <p>Ian has worked for a number of media companies in the United States and overseas, including the China Television Company, the <i>China News</i> newspaper, Taiwan's Central News Agency, <i>Network World</i>, and <i>Computerworld</i>. During the nearly three years he worked at Computerworld, he helped develop, launch and manage several new editorial services, including Shark Bait, Tech Dispenser, online video, podcasts, and blogs. He was <a href="http://ilamont.blogspot.com/2008/07/silver-asbpe-award-for-interactive.html">named in the silver ASPBE award</a> Computerworld received for interactive community in 2008. Ian's Computerworld blog, <a href="http://blogs.computerworld.com/lamont">The Digital Media Machine</a>, examined 3D technology, virtual worlds, Chinese Internet trends, and other new media topics, and was <a href="http://computerworld.com/action/article.do?command=viewArticleBasic&taxonomyName=hardware&articleId=9068659&taxonomyId=12&intsrc=kc_top">recognized in the award Computerworld received for "Best Blog"</a> in the 54th Annual Jesse H. Neal National Business Journalism Awards Competition. He also <a href="http://ilamont.blogspot.com">blogs about technology</a> on his personal blog.</p> <p>Ian received his undergraduate degree from the Boston University College of Communication and his masters from the Harvard Extension School. For <a href="http://harvardextended.blogspot.com/2007/09/thesis-update-done.html">his graduate thesis</a>, he designed a computer content analysis that used China's state-run media to gauge Chinese foreign policy priorities in the post-Mao era.
