Square Enix has moved to acquire a majority stake in struggling video game publisher Tecmo Friday as part of a move to bolster its own RPG-heavy line up with more action.
The takeover would also give the company a bigger foothold in the U.S. market, which responded more favorably to action franchises like Ninja Gaiden. There's also fighting franchises like Dead or alive to consider as well.
The Tecmo Board of Directors has until September 4 to approve or reject the takeover bid. If rejected, a translated Square response states, "We will withdraw our offer." (translation, courtesy Kotaku)
